Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Immuno-oncology

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to join our Immuno-Oncology team and participate in the development and characterization of therapeutic antibodies for cancer therapy. Responsibilities include development and optimization of cell-based assays for antibody screening and characterization. Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and immunology-related assays is preferred. The candidate must be willing to expand his/her knowledge of biology and experimental techniques. In this position, the candidate will serve a critical role in the identification of lead antibodies and the discovery of novel drugs and their effects on target biology in the field of immuno-oncology.

  • Develop and optimize lymphocyte and myeloid cell-based assays for the identification and characterization of therapeutic antibodies
  • In a cross functional setting, execute antibody screening and characterization that will result in lead antibody identification
  • Play a key role in the development and enhancement of core technologies related to cellular assays
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date understanding of oncology/tumor immunotherapy literature and methodology, as well as the literature related to specific antibody discovery projects by presenting data from high impact journal articles at team meetings
  • Prepare and organize data for presentation; present written and oral reports to the project teams, collaborators, and management
  • Collaborate with project leaders, prioritizing efforts to ensure timely progress in research projects

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or related field
  • 4+ years (Bachelor’s) or 2+ years (Master’s) of relevant laboratory experience
  • Background knowledge in immunology and oncology
  • Biotech industry experience is preferred
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and handling of primary immune cells
  • Prior experience with cell-based assays relevant to immunology or cancer drug development is a plus
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry and relevant plate and bead-based assay systems (ELISA, Luminex, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Thoughtful experimental design and comprehensive note keeping
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and proactively address/troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functional areas
  • Excellent attention to detail, well organized, and self-motivated
