Job Description

The Research Associate will play a key role in evaluation and development of cutting edge immune-based therapies discovered by Compugen for the treatment of cancer. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of Compugen’s transgenic mouse colonies and will participate in the execution of in-vivo and ex-vivo proof-of-concept studies. The Research Associate will report to the In-vivo team leader in the Validation and Early Development Group. The candidate is expected to independently perform hands-on experimental work but also to collaborate in a multi-functional team.

  • Manage Compugen’s animal in-house activities: Manage the maintenance of mouse transgenic strains including mating and accurate updating of animal records, preparations of laboratory samples including blood, internal tissues and tumors, according to the needs of the immune-oncology team. Lead the submission of scientific workplans for the approval of the institutional ethical committee
  • Support in-vivo pharmacology studies: Mice assignment and preparation to experimental procedures, tumor cells inoculation, administration of medications, randomization of mice, tumor size and weight follow-up
  • Support ex-vivo immune cell-based assays: Isolate and assist in multi-parametric analysis of immune cells ex-vivo
  • Record results in laboratory notebook and prepare written reports in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely progress of research projects according to the pipeline prioritization

Job Requirements

  • Minimum BSc/BA degree in life sciences, immunology, pharmacology, animal science/veterinary technician degree or related discipline
  • Authorization for animal handling – must
  • Extensive experience with mice habitat and care including breeding colony maintenance skills (maintaining good breeding rate, labeling by ear puncture and genotyping) – an advantage
  • Highly skilled in various methods of administration and dosing (SC, IP, IT and IV) and blood collection (RO, tail vein, and cardiac puncture) – an advantage
  • Strong experience in tumor measurements by caliper, body weighing, and health monitoring
  • Familiarity in harvesting and disaggregating tissue/tumor for subsequent ex vivo analysis
  • Proficiency in cell culture and ex vivo techniques – an advantage
  • Adaptive and a quick learner, efficient in multitasking, highly organized and excellent record keeping
  • Highly motivated and results driven individual with a passion for working in a fast-paced and evolving organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English – must
  • Scientific background in immunology – an advantage
