mAb Targets Collaborations

Compugen forms collaborations with pharmaceutical, biotechnology and diagnostic companies to develop and commercialize the wide range of discoveries in its portfolio as well as to jointly discover novel candidates for therapeutics. We are focused on in-silico predictive discovery of biologics – peptides, proteins, and antibody targets. Our discoveries are based on more than a decade of interdisciplinary research, with more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, leading to 12 discovery platforms announced so far. We model biological data and systematically predict and select novel product candidates. In the last few years we showed positive results in at least one disease model for more than five peptide and protein drug candidates, all of them discovered in-house, validating by that our internal capabilities. Our general approach is to collaborate early under milestone and revenue sharing agreements. We are interested to collaborate based on a “discovery on demand” model in which a discovery platform is harnessed to discover novel candidates based on guidelines provided by the partner (e.g. indications, targets, pathways). We are also interested to collaborate around candidates we have already discovered, usually after initial proof of concept in an animal disease model. We expect to work together with the partner throughout the discovery stage as well as the pre-clinical and early clinical stages, providing an exclusive license to the partner for further clinical development and commercialization.
For our mAb targets, we expect to work together with the partner during the target discovery and validation stage as well as mAb raising, and pre-clinical stages, providing an exclusive license to the partner for further clinical development and commercialization.

Current candidates for which partners are sought are CGEN-671 (Epithelial Cancers), and CGEN-928 (Multiple Myeloma).

A sample list of our collaborations to date includes:

Bayer Schering Pharma Bayer Schering Pharma
A collaborative agreement with Bayer Schering Pharma to further evaluate a Compugen discovered tumor target and its splice variants. Following an initial six month joint research stage, the agreement provides Bayer with an option for an exclusive worldwide royalty bearing license for development of monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic agents addressing these novel target molecules. The existence of the target and its splice variants was initially predicted in silico by Compugen through the use of its Monoclonal Antibody (mAb) Targets Discovery Platform; the predicted molecules were then validated experimentally.  |  read more

Medarex, Inc. Medarex, Inc.
A collaborative agreement with Medarex to develop monoclonal antibody-based therapeutics for oncology and autoimmune diseases. Compugen plans to use its proprietary antibody-target discovery engine to identify novel drug targets. Medarex plans to develop fully human antibodies against these novel targets using its UltiMAb Human Antibody Development System®. The collaboration combines Compugen's target discovery capabilities with Medarex's antibody discovery experience in order to enable the joint development and potential commercialization of human antibody-based therapeutics. This collaboration marks Compugen's first therapeutic agreement. Medarex®, UltiMAb®, UltiMAb Human Antibody Development System® and the Medarex logo are the property of Medarex, Inc.
